| I was referred to Little Star daycare from my co-worker who sent her 2 children to this place.
My daughter started going there when she was only 4 months old. As my husband and I don't have any close relatives nearby, for us, we feel that Ms. Faye has been sort of our close relative. Ms. Faye gave us a lot of good advice on how to raise our baby with a lot of love and some discipline. We are very comfortable leaving our kid at her place. When I go to pick up my daughter after work, she doesn't even want to go home! Ms. Faye also has 2 best and most caring assistants Ms. Hengameh and Ms. Brenda, and kids just love them. Now my daughter is 2.5 yrs old, she talks about them all the time at home even on weekends. I like the fact that unlike big daycare centers, this place has good mixture of kids with different ages. When my daughter was a baby, she grew up by looking at and learning from older kids. Now she learns to take care of younger ones and be gentle with them. I feel that my daughter was raised in a similar environment as a big family with a lot of siblings, and this is priceless especially in a modern world where most of us only have one or two children at home. If I ever have another child, I'd like Ms. Faye to take care of him/her. My daughter learned so much from this daycare and made good friends. With Ms. Faye's good discipline with kids, it seems that kids are all in a safe and friendly environment all the time. This daycare is not a regular daycare where they only look after your kids, feed and let them play. This daycare gives a lot of love to your kids and teaches as if their own children. |
Vida V. Martsolf, mother of Alex, 6 years old
DSSG Cisco [email protected] | My younger son went to Little Star Home Family Daycare from the time he was 8-9 month, and left around the time he was 4 to prepare for Kindergarten. I honestly could have just left him there as by the time he left, he was doing simple Math, reading for 1st grade level, and could write at past Kindergarten level. While I understand that a lot of the child's development is still done at home and it matters what we do there just as much, I honestly think that in this case, Ms Faye and her staff did so much to move my Alex's progress along.
Ms Faye is the Director/Owner of Little Star Home Family Daycare which she runs in her home in Santa Clara. She was a Montessori teacher for over 20 years, and is an artist as well. She used to teach at the Rainbow Montessori in Sunnyvale where my older son had gone as well. I thoroughly approve, am very supportive, and extremely delighted at the "curriculum" she has for the kids, where the 3Rs are very important - but art and music and plain manners are given equal prominence. My younger son seems to have a better grasp of artistic elements and spatial orientation than my older son who had done all the expensive centers...Action Day, Rainbow Montessori, and the like. She celebrate annual holidays, and is very inclusive of what's important to the other families. She has a wide mix of different cultures. She has Indian, Iranian, French, Filipino, Korean, Chinese. A number of Cisco families have gone to her as well. Most important of all, Ms Faye and her helpers know the children individually. They are not just names and "chores" to be checked off. They know how much they did or did not eat, whether they liked the lunch they were sent in with, and a comprehensive description of their day and how they were that day. A number of times, Ms Faye would call me to check whether she can cook my Alex lunch as she did not approve of all the meat I was sending in with him, and would make him "healthier" meals out of her own resources - veggies and the like. Her families come back to her not just as to bring their latest additions to the families, but to ask her to take care of their kids during school off days. They also come to visit and just have the children see Ms Faye and for her to catch up with them. We have been more than happy with our son's long stay there, and we only wish we had know of Little Star and Ms Faye with my 1st son. We would have saved money ... the tuition is significantly less than what I had been paying for in a Montessori, and essentially getting the same care, attention, and teaching for my son. |
